Maker Moments: Repurposed Books
Welcome back to Maker Moments! Over the past year, I have had so much fun re-purposing old items. I have an affinity for old books, I buy them every chance that I get. Rather than continue to line my bookshelves with them, I decided to come up with a way to display them that really shows off their beauty. With an idea in my head, I headed over to my dads workshop. He helped me create the book stands from staircase spindles. I sprayed them with gold spray paint. Then, we used a Dremel tool to cut out the centers of the books. I’m not going to lie. Cutting the books can be tricky and time consuming, but well worth the effort.
I used Flora Ovals and Classic Ovals Large dies to create the center of this book.
I found free vintage images online, but I think it would also be a great way to display vintage photos of your own family. Timeless Rectangles, Labels 8, and Classic Rectangles Large were used to create the center of this book.
I used Gold Majesty Circles and Standard Circles Large die sets. Gold Majesty Circles is one of my favorite dies, I love the way it showcases this old wedding photo.
I would love to hear about your favorite creations.
Thank you for stopping by,
Michelle
