Guest Blogger Debi Adams, A Quite Contrary Celebration

Hi my friends! Happy to be featured here at Spellbinders and thrilled to have had a productive weekend creating with these dies:

SR-038 Contour Quite Contrary Positively Peony
SDS-007 Quite Contrary Fresh Sentiments Stamp & Die Set
SR-040 Contour Quite Contrary Tussy-Mussy
SR-042 Contour Quite Contrary Pocketful of Posies
PL-001 Platinum™ Die Cutting and Embossing Machine –  8.5″ Platform

One of my all time favorite things to prepare for is parties! For whatever reason, they never get old. Ever! Each person and celebration is always different and unique. It can be done in different colors, styles or traditions and I’m always all in it! Life’s too short to do boring, right?

So today I am featuring a general celebration. What I really want to showcase is the versatility and uniqueness of the above-mentioned dies. All the dies have purpose and possibilities. They are simply limited by one’€™s imagination.

This photo shows a gift, party favors, flowers, party hat and a card. Lots of variety is represented here for sure.

This card used the Fresh Sentiment set AND the left over pieces from Pocketful of Posies die (the scalloped edging) and the Tussy-Mussy die (the embellishment under the sentiment). Since watercoloring is so in right now, I chose to enhance it with…watercolors. This technique is very easy to attain, especially with a waterbrush.

I made this necklace this weekend but chose to showcase it with a tag background. If you notice, I changed the direction of the tag and chose the appropriate sentiment to fit in
that space. This looks so much nicer than putting it in a little white box. And best of all, it looks like it cost more than it really did.

How about stamping and folding the tag in half for the top of the tea bag as shown here? You can write your own sentiment in the remaining area.

Love how you can die-cut two of the larger Tussy-Mussy pieces and attach them together at the sides to create a…tah-dah…party hat!

Flowers are pretty much a necessity at a party but they don’t have to have a short shelf life. Try making these flowers from tissue paper as shown here in this step by step tutorial.

And finally, try using the Tussy-Mussy as a candy holder! Embellish and attach a pleated and scalloped edging from the Pocketful of Posies die or simply add a scalloped
festoon and sentiment piece. For directions on festoon, see my blog, Doodle in my Sketchpad.

Putting these all together with a few pretty props, makes this party a happy event!

Hope these ideas inspired you to create. Show me what you’€™ve got! I would love to see your creativity at work!
