Hello everyone, This is Yana Smakula and thank you for joining me today! After a long and chilly winter, we all long for a nice and hot Summer! So why not create a fun “You Make Me Happy” Card using Monstera Leaves Etched Dies from the Tropical Paradise Collection by Lene Lok.
I picked a various scrap papers from leftover project to do my die cutting. I used a faux watercolor patterned paper sheet, a sheet with gold glitter paper and some gold foil cardstock.
If you don’t have faux watercolor print paper, you can create one yourself by using watercolor paper and watercolors. Its very easy to do and doesn’t take a lot of time. If you don’t know how, there are many video tutorials available online. I also have a tutorial I have filmed for Spellbinders awhile back where I’m showing how to create prints like this. Click Watercolor Die Cuts and Backgrounds video to view mine.
Keep in mind you can pick any color scheme you like for this project, I simply happen to like gold and I thought it would look really nice with the green faux watercolor. I used a fun and quirky sentiment for this project and I heat embossed it in gold embossing powder. You can also turn this project into a simple Hello card by using a different sentiment.
I added a strip of gold glitter paper and foam mounted it along with my background panel onto an A2 top folding card base made out of white paper.
Each monstera leaf was shaped a bit and adhered onto the card. You can also ink up the edges using an ink blending tool. I layered some of the leaves on top of gold glitter for extra interest and dimension.
