Sharyn Sowell Holiday 2019 Inspiration | Simple Holiday Cards with Karin Åkesdotter

Hi everyone! My name is Karin Åkesdotter (You find me on Instagram as Peppermintpatty42  and my blog is PeppermintPatty’s Papercraft). I am super thrilled to be here today to share some projects that I’ve made with the absolutely wonderful Holiday 2019 Collection by Sharyn Sowell. These dies are the most adorable ever!

I think the tree from Starry Forest is so Beautiful and for my first card I wanted it as my center piece. I simply die cut it from thick White cardstock (300g) and also from gold cardstock so I could add some stars in gold to it. I also cut some extra using the tiny stars from Santa’s Workshop.

I cut an extra bird that I colored Bright red before adhering to the top of the tree. I added a snow border using a scalloped die from Becka Feeken’s latest Collection. My background was inked using distress inks in Salty Ocean, Blueprint Sketch and Chipped Sapphire.

My second card is super fast and easy to make – but oh how much I love it. I am childishly fascinated by how paper can be cut so beautifully just by running a die and cardstock though a die cutting machine.  I cut a panel from light blue cardstock to which I adhered the Beautiful Love Came Down die cut before adding it to my white card base. The gold star adds a bit of interest. This would of course look lovely in more traditional Christmas colors and in brighter non traditional color combos too – endless possibilities!

For my last card I wanted a dreamy storybook look for a “Young Family” Christmas card. I started out by making my background by masking the snowy ground and sentiment strip with post-it tape and then inking the top piece of my white cardstock panel. I used distress ink in Victorian Velvet, Seedless preserves and Chipped Sapphire. I then sprayed it with gold spray.

I then tried a range of different colors on the Lovely silhouettes from Winter Friends but settled on white for this card.
