Spring Into Stitching 3 Ways (and no stitching!) with Debby van Diepen

Hi all, Debby van Diepen here from The Netherlands! I am excited to be on the Spellbinders blog today. I am a paper crafter for a couple of years now and love to create cards and all sorts of papercrafts.

Today I am sharing three cards I created with the new Spring Into Stitching Collection. This collection is perfect for those who like to stitch on paper. But the collection can also be used without any stitching. The details of the dies are beautiful to use on their own. And that’s what I did, no stitching on my three cards.

Non Stitched Petal Frame Card

Pink tones are definitely my favorite colors for cards. So for this beautiful full cover frame die it was easy to pick my colors. And I used my favorite inks, Distress Oxides.

  • Die-cut the Spellbinders Stitched Petal Frame die out of white cardstock.
  • Color the piece with Distress Oxide inks Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, and Wilted Violet. Start with the lightest color in the center and work your way around, end with the darkest color.
  • Add double-sided foam tape in small pieces at the back and pop it on a white card base.
  • Hot foil, with Spellbinders Glimmer foil Champagne and the Glimmer Hot Foil System, the sentiment from Spellbinders Yana’s Sentiments. Die-cut the sentiment out.
  • Softly add Distress Oxide ink Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick at the bottom of the sentiment. Die-cut with the same die a piece of black cardstock and glue those together, a little offset. Place it in the center of your stitched frame with double-sided foam tape.
  • Die-cut the little flowers die from Spellbinders Petite Floral Potpourri die set out of white cardstock.
  • Die-cut the leaf die from Spellbinders Stitched Flower die set out of green cardstock. Snip the leaves to get one leaf piece.
  • Arrange the leaves with white flowers on your stitched frame. When you are ok with the arrangement, glue them down.
  • For a little extra detail and shine, add white Rhinestones in the center of the flowers.

Non Stitched Medallion Card

When I saw this beautiful Medaillon die from Spellbinders Stitched Medaillon die set I knew I wanted to go soft in colors. The stitched details and shape give me a romantic feel, so I stayed soft in my design with no blacks.

  • Die-cut the Stitched Medallion out of white cardstock.
  • Create 4 strings of thread with soft yellow and soft pink. Add them to the Medaillon piece. They look like cute little tassels.
  • Add double-sided foam tape at the back of the medallion piece and place it on an off-white card front.
  • Add the off-white card front on a white card base with double-sided foam tape.
  • Heat emboss the sentiment from Spellbinders We All Dance Sentiments stamp set, with white embossing powder on pink cardstock. Cut it to a strip and add it in the center of the medallion piece, with double-sided foam tape.
  • Glue a few white jewels on the medallion piece for extra detail and shine.
  • Die-cut the little flowers from Spellbinders Petite Floral Potpourri die set out of pink cardstock.
  • Die-cut the leaf die from Spellbinders Stitched Flower die set out of green cardstock. Make 4 of those and cut the top parts.
  • Arrange the leaves with pink flowers on your card front. When you are ok with the arrangement, glue them down. Just not the two biggest flowers. Pop them on the card with double-sided foam tape. It gives a nice extra touch of dimension.

Non Stitched Flower Birthday Card

For this card, I also stayed with the soft colors. The Stitched Flower die looks delicate to me and that makes me grab my soft tones cardstocks. For this card, I used a lot of double-sided foam tape because I love the dimension!

Spring Into Stitching 3 Ways (and no stitching!) with Debby van Diepen

  • Die-cut the Stitched Flower 3 times out of off-white cardstock.
  • Die-cut the Leaf die from the same die set out of cardstocks in 3 different colors. I used pink, natural, and soft orange.
  • Arrange the Stitched Flower pieces with the leaves at the bottom of a card front. I used a natural tone for the card front.
  • I placed the flower pieces with double-sided foam tape on the card front and glued the leaves behind them. On the middle flower, add a double layer of double-sided foam tape to add even more dimension.
  • I hot foiled the sentiment from Spellbinders We Dance Glimmer Sentiments. I used Spellbinders Glimmer foil – Champagne and the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System.
  • I created a strip with the sentiment and popped it on the flower with double-sided foam tape. yes, I know, more dimension! I love it.
  • Die-cut little flowers from Spellbinders Petite Floral Potpourri. I used the same cardstock as the card front for the flower base. This way they are not too much showing. for the little flower in the center, I used pink cardstock. I glued them down.
  • Add double-sided foam tape on the card front and place it on the card base.
  • For extra detail and shine, I used gold Jewels here and there.
