Beautiful Mitered Card Frames Add Appeal Sure To Draw Applause

Crisp, professionally mitered corners are the hallmark of beautiful frames in galleries everywhere.  It opens up a world of possibility in card making to be able to mimic framing and layering with the help of delicate and character rich borders. Hi there, Becca Feeken with Amazing Paper Grace here to show you how to make miter framed cards with Graceful Borders and the Graceful Frame Maker. By using any border or favorite decoratively edged die cut and following step by step with the Graceful Frame Maker –  lovely frames are easily constructed to grace any card. Today I’m going to demonstrate an easy layered frame with Graceful Damask.

Step 1.  Using Graceful Damask, start by cutting four of the same borders and trim one side evenly.

Step 2.  Tape the Graceful 6×6 Frame Maker to a piece of  typewriter weight paper slightly larger than the die.  This makes an anchor as you arrange pieces while preparing to cut miters.  My favorite paper to use is graph paper because it makes lining up and keeping things even, a cinch!

Step 3.  Line up  the first two borders beginning at the bottom then on the top; taping on the side making sure they are even and centered.

Step 4.  Finish up with the last two borders, then visually check the outside corners for symmetry and the inside corners to make sure the diagonal lines intersect the laid out borders evenly.

Step 5.  Once cut, remove the excess borders that have been separated on outside edges and mark the remaining miter cut borders with L(eft), R(ight), U(p), D(own) so that the borders can be reassembled just as they were cut.

Step 6.  Tape on the back – along diagonals, with clear tape or washi tape.

Step 7.  Next to make a mat  to go underneath our cut borders, cut a piece of cardstock with the Frame Maker die.

Step 8.  Stack the four triangles, make a mark for the depth of the mat then cut all four triangles at once.

Step 9.  Assemble the four triangles by taping on the back – along diagonals, with clear tape or washi tape.

Step 10.   Beginning with 6″ x 6″ card base, add centered sentiment, add matting layer and finish with  miter cut damask border layer.  Embellish with pearls and bow.

In just 10 steps, you have a beautifully miter framed card!
