Video Friday | Classics Layered Backgrounds Cards
Hello everyone. This is Nichol Spohr and I’m thrilled to be here today with a set of thank you cards featuring layered backgrounds created with the Fancy Edged Rectangles, Circles, and Ovals dies. Tone-on-tone cardstock creates beautiful layered backgrounds. A simple die cut greeting and a stamped sentiment phrase strip is all that’s needed to finish each of these cards. The Fancy Edged Rectangles, Circles, and Ovals were die cut from multiple colors of cardstock and layered to create the backgrounds for each of the cards. The images were stacked largest to biggest and adhered slightly hanging off the edge of a white card base. Any excess was trimmed off…

Video Friday | Pop-Up Card with Frame Dies with Olga
Hello crafty friends and thank you for joining me on Spellbinders blog! Today I am going to create a pop up card with some ornate frame dies from Special Moments collection by Marisa Job. I will only be using white and ivory cardstocks to create a very subtle variation of color plus some gold mirror cardstock for sentiments. The dimensional pop-up circle card is created with Miss You Swirl die set and I have “love you” written on the one side and “miss you” on the other. There is also some additional space at the horizontal part of the card to write or stamp the message to the recipient. Although…

These Sea Animals and Sea Life Accents are the perfect focal point for the matching inked and stenciled underwater background! Video Friday | Create a Stencil using Die Cuts with Kelly Latevola
Hello Crafters! Today we are trying something a little different with our die cuts. The Lovely Lilac die comes with two dies an outline layer and an intricate flower. I used some left over packaging and the outline die to create my own stencil. I found that placing a piece of cardstock under the die in addition to the plastic packaging gave me the best cut. I used repositionable adhesive on the back of my stencil to hold it in place while I added some color with my distress inks. Once I was done I removed the stencil and started in with my copic markers. I added a drop shadow…

Video Friday | Me & Teddy Cards with Olga
Hello Spellbinders fans, thank you for dropping in! Today I am featuring my favorite die from Little Loves collection by Sharyn Sowell. I am so in love with the little scene that this die creates – I guess everyone can recognize themselves or their children in it! I have created 2 almost identical cards – just changed the color combination so that one would fit for a boy and another one for a girl. To me the biggest issue with working with this type of images is that they are already complete – they tell the story and appeal to one’s emotions – so what else can I add to…

Video Friday | Shabby Chic Cards with Olga
Hello die cutting fans, thank you for joining me on Spellbinders blog! Today I am going to showcase 2 projects featuring Swirl Background and Curvy Labels die sets from Romancing the Swirl collection designed by Becca Feeken. Both cards are the same design but are a bit different in structure. The project #1 is a multi-layered framed card decorated with a large flower made with Blooming Rose die set. For the background I used a sheet of paper with small floral pattern in subdued pink shades. The project #2 is a trifold card that has a little pocket inside so it can be used as a money holder or a gift…

Video Friday | Inked Terrarium Hello Card with Nichol
Hello everyone. This is Nichol Spohr and I’m thrilled to be here today with this die cut terrarium and greenery card. Adding detail to die cuts with ink is one of the easiest ways to immediately add depth and dimension to the images. Popping some of the images up with foam adhesive and layering additional greenery behind the terrarium give this card added interest. The background of the card was created by die cutting and embossing frames from dark gray cardstock using the Fancy Edges Rectangles. A sentiment was stamped and embossed on one of the panels and they were adhered to a white top fold card base as shown,…
