What’s your design/craft story? ie. How did you get started?

I have been creating and crafting for as long as I can remember. My parents were both self-employed artists when I was growing up. My mother always appreciated good art and office supplies. Our home was always filled with creative tools. The love for those things was passed on to me. I grew up with a love of drawing and writing. I preferred my hand-drawn paper dolls over those from the store. When I discovered scrapbooking it was a perfect fit for my love of crafting, paper, pens, and markers. Soon after I added in stamping and inks which of course led to paints and mixed media projects.

How has your design style evolved over the years?

When I first started papercrafting, I tried to be very neat and clean. I liked things very straight and precise. And then I discovered ink. The rest is a messy and happy story. The more I experiment with inks, paints, and colors, the more I discover that letting go and experimenting and discovering new

What’s the most fun thing about designing your own product line? What’s the hardest thing?

Getting to daydream about shapes, textures, and patterns to create with is the best part of creating your own collection. I can’t even describe what a thrill it is to dream about what you designs you would like to craft with, draw them out, and then hold them in your hands! The hardest part? Deciding which designs to use now and which ones to save for next time.

Who did you have in mind when you designed it?

Me! I tried to design items that I wanted to create with. Have you ever been crafting and think, “I wish I had _____ (fill in the blank)?” I do and that is what I tried to do, fill in the blank of things I wish I had.

What/who inspires you? Why?

I am so inspired by vintage items. I collect all types of vintage papergoods, linens, laces, millinery, and more. My collection was inspired by the vintage things I surround myself with- from the wood on the floor of my vintage house, to the linens in my collection, to vintage treasures like my husband’s grandmother’s autograph book.

Tammy’s Collection will be available for purchase in early 2016.
