Holiday 2019 Inspiration | Christmas Cards with Mindy

Welcome everyone! This is Mindy Eggen and I’m so excited to be on the Spellbinders blog sharing inspiration with you from their Holiday Release. You are welcome to check out more of my work over on my blog Mindy Eggen Design. The Holiday Release has so many amazing dies available at reasonable prices and coordinate so well together. I’ll have 3 projects to share with you today featuring this release.

JOY CARD

My first project is using the beautiful Joy die. This die gives you many options from clean and simple to layering or even shaker cards.

I die cut my Joy frame from Fresh Asparagus card stock and used the letters to cut out the words on the inside. I also used the individual letters to die cut from Gold Glitter card stock and layered them inside my frame on a card panel made from Fog card stock

You can leave the frame as is or die cut the individual elements like the flowers, leaves and berries from different colors of card stock and layer them on. This is a great way to use up any scraps you may have.

DECK THE HALLS CARD

My next card is taking it up a step and adding some stencils and ink blending to my background. Using the Deck the Halls die, I die cut the ornament shape from white card stock and ink blended Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn Distress Inks. I also die cut the inside words from white card stock and layered on top. I die cut the ornament trimmings from glitter card stock and set on the side to work on my background.

Starting with a piece of white card stock, I ink blended Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide Ink with a blending brush. I started heavy handed at the top and worked my way down using a lighter hand. I topped off the darkest areas with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide ink. Next, I brought in the Subway Tile stencil and used Abandoned Coral again to lightly go over the stencil. This will add a subtle background to our ornament.

I added my ornament to the front of the card with foam tape and finished off with the glitter card stock trimmings.

CHRISTMAS CHEER CARD

My last card is a beautiful snowy scene for a cute furry critter. The Bandit die creates an adorable little Santa Raccoon and is sized perfectly for a card front. You also have the option to die cut a tree covered in snow which I did as well.

I created a snowy hill using the Drift & Hills stencil with Shaded Lilac and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink. This created such a beautiful shade for the snow! Masking off my snow drift, I ink blended Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers and Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide inks. Then splattered with water for a snowy sky.

Once my panel was completely dry, I heat embossed a sentiment from Christmas Cheer stamp set from Simon Says Stamp in white embossing powder. I also added some snowflakes from the Halls die using White Glitter card stock.

I finished off my wintery scene by adding my tree with liquid glue and my Santa raccoon with foam squares. How super sweet is this critter?!
