Maker Moments: Embellish a Tote Bag Using Spellbinders Contour Steel Rule Dies

So glad it’€™s Monday!

We have Michelle back in the house this week! We love working on Maker Moments together. Today we are bringing you this “€œsups cute”€ tote bag. I know that I always say “it’™s easy”€ but really this one is. It can be made without sewing if that is your preference.

Spellbinders Supplies:

Other Supplies:

  • Cotton Fabric of Your Choice
  • Embroidery Floss
  • Embroidery Needle
  • Fabric Disappearing Marker
  • Fusible Web-Lightweight or Permanent (for non-sewers)
  • Sewing Machine, optional.

Instructions:

All your fabric needs to have fusible webbing on the backside. (Please follow manufacturer’€™s
directions for application.) Die-cut images from fabric. Peel off backing and place on tote bag where desired. Iron in place. If sewing, use applique stitch to adhere pieces to tote. Embroider die-cut images. For the sentiment, I just wrote my own word using an disappearing marker and then went back and embroidered it. Stitch sides of bag up.

Designer Note: You can make your own tote if you like OR you can buy a pre-made one. If you are going to appliqué your pre-made bag, you will need to open up the side seams so that you can get the bag to fit inside to your machine.

There you have it! Could you do this? We would love to see your project.

Enjoy!
