Maker Moments: Sew Cute Fabric Banner and Monogrammed Jar Lid

Happy Monday!!!! Today Debi and I are sharing a super easy banner.  Don’t worry if your sewing skills are a little rusty, so are mine.

First,  die cut fabric and batting using Three’s a Crowd Contour™ Steel Rule Die banner shape. Layer and sew a quarter inch in, around the banner. Use scissors to trim back the batting and snip around the edges. Create the banner by stitching the pieces onto seam binding. Finish it off by washing to help fray the edges. See the finished project below.

We also made some monogram pin cushion jars.

To create the letters, begin by applying fusible web to the back of cotton fabric then die-cut the desired letter(s) from Type-Oh! Contour™ Steel Rule Die.  Peel back webbing and iron onto fabric that will be used for top of jar.  At this point, stitching is optional. Place the monogrammed fabric upside down and center over the top of the lid.  Mark the lid circle with a pencil then add 1/2″€ and cut out. Cut a piece of batting the same size as the jar lid. Attach to lid circle insert with hot glue then cover with monogrammed fabric (right side up this time), tucking under and adhering any excess fabric. Trim if necessary.  Insert circle insert into jar lid. Tie ribbon or twine around lid. Buttons, barrettes and candy are just a few of the items that can be placed in the jar.

So that’s it for this week. We hope we have inspired you to create.
