Maker Moments: Simple Anemones/Pocketful of Posies Cake

Hi my friends! Glad you are here. I have a really fun project to showcase today that you can create using my Simple Anemones and Positively Peony dies. The inspiration for this cake actually came when my daughter, Chellie asked me to help her with ideas for a bridal shower for her best friend. This was a big mistake because, if any of you know me, I LOVE a party! When she mentioned she was thinking of doing a fashion designer Kate Spade style theme, I went to work! And here is what I came up with…

Spellbinders Supplies:
SR-037 Simple Anemones Steel Rule Dies
S2-165 Create A Peony Etched Dies
S4-575 Hip Hop Hooray Etched Dies
PL-001 Platinum Die Cutting and Embossing machine

The step-out tutorial that will be on tomorrow’€™s blog will show how all these flowers were created! I just changed out the colors using tissue paper. The gold leaves were cut from German crepe paper using the Positively Peony (leaf) die. And for a little extra touch, I die-cut the word Hooray (Hip-Hip Hooray die) from gold glitter paper.

Obviously, you can buy a pre-made blank cake and add these flowers for embellishments if you are not a baker.

If you love to cook however, just make a two-tiered cake and frost it with buttercream frosting. I made Royal Frosting polka dots ahead of time and then put them on the cake. I wrapped two black ribbons around the top layer of the cake. Attaching the ribbons really gave it that clean, Kate Spade-look. These colors get me every time! Love their look. So, what do YOU think?

Because this is a special week, I am giving away some of my dies and die/stamp sets from my Quite Contrary line when you follow me on Instagram (Debi_Adams), for leaving a comment on my blog Doodles In My Sketchpad and/or tagging a friend. Find out the contest details here. I will choose two winners on Monday, April 18th. Last day to enter is Friday, April 15th.
